Crispy Halloumi Fries with Hot Honey and Za'atar

Ingredients

Fries

400 ghalloumi
100 gsemolina
1 tspza'atar
vegetable oilfor frying

Hot Honey

4 tbsphoney
1 tspchilli flakes
1 tbsplemon juice

Method

  1. Cut halloumi into thick fries about 1cm wide and 7cm long. Pat completely dry with kitchen paper.
  2. Mix semolina and za'atar in a shallow bowl.
  3. Heat 2cm of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 180°C.
  4. Coat each halloumi fry in the semolina mixture, pressing to adhere.
  5. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Don't overcrowd the pan.
  6. Drain on kitchen paper.
  7. Warm honey with chilli flakes and lemon juice in a small pan for 30 seconds.
  8. Arrange halloumi fries on a plate and drizzle with hot honey.
